The Adventure Begins!

I'm so glad you're here.

Now that we're on the same page, I would like to formally welcome you to my website and blog. I am beyond excited to share ALL of my photos and adventures with you!

As you've probably realised by now, I'm Elsie Delight. And despite my British spelling of certain words (sorry Mom); I was born and raised in a small Alaskan town where for years I dreamt of one day moving to a big city. I had oh so many plans, but life pulled me in other directions. So other than short trips, Alaska was stuck with me until last autumn when I temporarily relocated to Germany. I originally planned to stay for three months but loved it so much, I extended and have been here for about five months now.

Which is the longest I've been away from Alaska... EVER.

I decided to start this site after realising I hadn't been sharing photos with family and friends as promised. I tried, but who knew sorting through hundreds of photos and even just thinking of sending the best ones to twenty different people could be so exhausting?

I was feeling pretty guilty as last year drew to a close, but one night the idea hit me.

And finally, after four weeks of seemingly endless all nighters, rarely leaving the house and tons of help and support from a friend (thanks M!) the solution is here!

Delightfully Yours

Ask any solo traveler and they'll tell you how amazing travelling alone is. Imagine being able to spend as long as you want in beautiful museums, castles or cathedrals, or endlessly wandering the streets of an old city with no set plans or obligations.

No interruptions. No guilt over holding anyone up while you fully immerse yourself in this new adventure. It sounds incredible right?!

It really is, but the downside to all this freedom is that the best things in life are those shared with other people. I've mostly adhered to this, but traveling has been my one chance to be completely alone, and I love it. Although, I did grow a bit disillusioned with solo travel several years ago at the beginning of a trip to Greece when I became ill. As I lay in my Airbnb slightly delirious and fully convinced I would die completely alone in a foreign country, I had some time to think.

I still do the majority of my trips alone, but I'm now embarking on a new chapter and invite you to travel the world with me and be my "travel buddy" of sorts. An all-expense paid, (unprofessionally) yet still curated experience by me for you as you travel along through your device. Read my stories and see the world through my lense but interpret the photos in a way that brings delight to you.

And finally, as my good friend M said when first testing the site.

"I have just been around the world and felt as though I was there. You can stop my thoughts and make me feel how you felt the day or night you took a picture. -Your pictures touch my soul."

That's exactly what I want YOU to experience!
